Dried & True Urban Homestead

Established 2014

Welcome to our small urban homestead, where we are fighting for beauty in our own big and small ways. Using organic and permaculture practices, we desire to partner with the natural intent of our world to foster a healthy, thriving people and planet.

Though some of our grandparents farmed and grew their own foods, we were unfamiliar with much of this way of life beyond watching our parents try a few vegetables. Living in a tucked-away-from-the-world Slovak village for a year grew a desire in Vicki to work toward community sustainability and new creation. "I wanted to not just take from our beautiful home, but give back to it." Learning about the Law of Return and how we could live more in harmony with the land as our ancestors had done so for thousands of years, we began making steps each year in our own fight for beauty and sharing what little we learned along the way with friends and family.

Today we are working to establish a small food forest in our urban setting. Using not only our own land but also some of our neighbors, we are able to grow much of our own food through most seasons, grow medicinal, herbal teas and vegetables to sell in our neighborhood market, as well as flowers that are pressed and turned into seasonal art collections in an effort to raise money for some of our costs. Our entire family and many others in our community contribute to what you see today as the Dried & True Urban Homestead and #fightforbeauty Community.

Dried & True Urban Homestead hosts community experiences on the land they are privileged to heal, and is the founder of the Central PA's F4B Grower's Community.
